I<\/strong>n Assam, the flood situation has become dire on Monday with more than 1.90 lakh people affected, and one person dead, as reported by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Heavy rains in higher altitudes have caused rivers to overflow their banks in different parts of the state, leading to the suspension of ferry services on the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati and Nematighat in Jorhat.<\/span><\/p>\n

The death reported from Demow in Sivasagar district puts the total fatalities at 15 this year. 17 districts have been struggling with the deluge, affecting 1,90,675 individuals with Lakhimpur district being the worst affected, with 47,338 people affected. 427 people are in two relief camps, and 45 relief distribution centres are active.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rivers that have risen above the danger level include the Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh, Dhubri, Tezpur and Nematighat in Jorhat, as well as the Beki, Jia-Bharali, Disang, Dikhou and Subansiri rivers. The Inland Water Transport Department has announced that ferry services in Guwahati will remain suspended on Tuesday and ferry services between Nematighat and Majuli have also been discontinued.<\/span><\/p>\n

8,086.40 hectares of cropland have been inundated, and 1,30,514 animals have been affected, including 81,340 large animals and 11,886 poultry. Breach of embankments by floodwaters were reported from four areas in Udalguri, Biswanath, Darrang as well as Barpeta, Dhubri, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri. Moreover, roads, bridges, power poles, schools and other structures have been destroyed due to the floods, along with erosions reported from Barpeta, Biswanath, Dhubri, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Tinsukia and Udalguri.<\/span><\/p>\n
