On his second visit to Kolkata within five days, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated several projects constructed at a cost of 15,400 crore rupees and laid the foundation for many new ones.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates India’s First Underwater Metro in Kolkata Amidst a Whirlwind Tour of Infrastructure Projects<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Prime Minister Modi has inaugurated the country’s first underwater metro service, which is a section of the Kolkata Metro’s East-West corridor between Howrah Maidan and Esplanade. The 4.8 km long underwater project of Kolkata’s East-West Metro has incurred an expenditure of a total of 4,965 crore rupees. It is notable that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has scheduled a 10-day visit to 12 states and union territories of the country<\/p>\n

As part of this, the underwater metro project was inaugurated in Kolkata today. Additionally, today he will lay the foundation stone for the first phase of the expansion of the Pune Metro Rail project between Pimpri Chinchwad and Nigdi. He is also set to launch the Agra Metro project.<\/p>\n

Following the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister will address a public meeting in Barasat in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Arriving directly from Odisha on Tuesday, the Prime Minister stayed overnight at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata. During today’s metro service launch, he was accompanied by the Governor of West Bengal, C.V. Anand Bose. However, West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, did not participate in the event.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
