I<\/span>n a distressing turn of events, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped<\/a> by a 40-year-old priest in Birla, Diphu. According to sources from the Diphu police, this heinous incident took place late at night on August 22, adding yet another grim chapter to the series of sexual assaults that have recently plagued the region.<\/p>\n The accused, identified as Khonsing Ronghang, had traveled from Hamren to the victim’s home in Birla, Diphu, to perform religious rituals. It was under the guise of this holy duty that he committed the appalling act. The assault reportedly occurred around 2 AM on Thursday night when the minor was taken from her bed and sexually assaulted inside her home.<\/p>\n The victim, unable to bear the excruciating pain in her abdomen, confided in her parents after returning from school the following day. Alarmed and outraged, the family took swift action. Despite the perpetrator fleeing the scene initially, the authorities managed to apprehend him. The family of the victim handed over the immoral priest to the Diphu police after giving him a severe beating.<\/p>\n Currently, the accused is undergoing treatment at Diphu Medical College. The family has also filed an official complaint at the Diphu police station, and the case has been registered under number 25\/2024.
