Built at a cost of \u20b93.78 crore, this state-of-the-art facility stands as a symbol of the government&#8217;s commitment to enhancing accessibility to judicial services. It will significantly bolster the judicial infrastructure of Assam, ensuring better accessibility and transparency,\u201d he remarked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Dr. Sarma highlighted the state\u2019s ongoing efforts to improve judicial infrastructure, referencing completed projects in Barpeta, Sivasagar, and Bokakhat. He also announced plans for additional modern court complexes in Diphu, Dhubri, Goalpara, and Tinsukia. The Chief Minister underlined the significance of digitizing judicial processes, including initiatives like e-filing, virtual hearings, and a movement toward paperless courts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Furthermore, Dr. Sarma commended the establishment of specialized POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) courts in 17 districts, with further courts planned in Nagaon, aimed at expediting cases related to crimes against children. He also noted the progressive shift from colonial-era laws to contemporary legislations, including the Indian Justice Code and the Indian Evidence Act.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In his speech, the Chief Minister outlined government initiatives designed to alleviate court congestion, such as the withdrawal of over 81,000 minor cases and the introduction of robust witness protection mechanisms. \u201cOur efforts aim to reduce delays, uphold justice, and ensure that every citizen can access an equitable legal system,\u201d Dr. Sarma asserted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Reiterating his administration&#8217;s zero-tolerance policy concerning crimes against women and children, Dr. Sarma introduced measures like the Borosa mobile app and e-Seva centers that provide legal aid to women in distress. He praised the establishment of the National Forensic Science University in Guwahati, which aims to enhance scientific investigations and legal education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Concluding his remarks, Dr. Sarma urged all stakeholders to prioritize the timely delivery of justice, asserting, \u201cJustice delayed is justice denied. A judiciary that serves with efficiency and fairness is the cornerstone of public trust.\u201d The ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Justice Suman Shyam, Justice Kalyan Rai Surana, and Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The inauguration of the Lakhipur court complex marks a pivotal milestone for the people of the Barak Valley, heralding a new era of justice and legal reform in Assam.
