According to Cachar Police Superintendent Nomal Mahanta, the recent operations were conducted based on credible intelligence regarding drug dealers operating in the area. In one notable incident, Silchar police apprehended a 24-year-old drug dealer, identified as Mumin Uddin Borbhuyan, a resident of the Beringa locality. During a routine traffic check, law enforcement officers discovered 10,000 yaba tablets concealed on his motorcycle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The estimated market value of these seized narcotics is around 3 crore taka. Following his arrest, the police swiftly initiated legal proceedings against Borbhuyan, invoking the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which aims to eliminate drug-related offenses.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a separate operation, Cachar police targeted the illegal transportation of narcotics in the Shivpur area under the Lakhipur police station. Acting on reliable information, authorities seized a staggering cache of drugs, including 50,736 units of Tramadol proxicam space capsules, 252 bottles of Codeine Phosphate (commonly known as Kahar Chirap), and 17,100 Nitrazepam tablets. This haul is valued at approximately 5 million rupees.<\/span><\/p>\n

During this operation, 37-year-old Mithun Chakravarty from Lakhipur was arrested. Chakravarty was found hiding the narcotic substances in a sealed room in Devipur, Shivpur. He is now facing serious charges as authorities continue to investigate the extent of the drug network involved.<\/span><\/p>\n
