Addressing a large gathering in Lakhimpur on Sunday, Sarma emphasized the state government\u2019s commitment to providing immediate relief to those who lost homes and crops, including families in Lakhimpur. This initiative, launched on December 11, aims to support 12 lakh people across Assam over 12 days.<\/span><\/h4>\n

During the event, Sarma highlighted efforts to tackle poverty, announcing that 16 lakh women in the state have been relieved from microfinance loan burdens. Plans for infrastructure development in Lakhimpur were unveiled, including a Rs 26-crore bridge to boost regional connectivity. Additionally, Sarma addressed educational needs by announcing the establishment of a government law college and a BSc nursing college for girls, with an added commitment to a Rs 15-crore MSc nursing college for the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program also saw the distribution of over 5 lakh ration cards to residents from 37 districts. These cards entitle recipients to 5 kg of rice in December and free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Beneficiaries can also access the Orunodoy scheme, designed to prevent exploitation by fake participants.<\/span><\/p>\n
