Additionally, Goalpara Police dismantled 10 bighas of illegal opium cultivation at West Fetengapara Char under Chunari Police Station, further intensifying their crackdown on drug operations. In January, they had already destroyed 170 bighas of poppy worth \u20b927.20 crore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guwahati Joint Commissioner of Police, Ankur Jain, reported substantial drug-related arrests in January, with 52 traffickers apprehended. The police recovered 686.64 grams of suspected heroin, 43.46 kg of marijuana, 29,162 drug tablets, including YABA, and 2,300 bottles of cough syrup, with an estimated market value of Rs 6.75 crore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Highlighting efforts against narcotic trafficking, SDGP Harmeet Singh and STF Chief Partha Sarathi Mahanta emphasized a dual approach as per the Union Home Ministry\u2019s directive to dismantle drug networks comprehensively. Singh noted that while large seizures disrupt major networks, small-scale peddlers significantly impact the youth. Chief Minister Sarma has directed the Special Task Force (STF) to focus on these petty traffickers, aiming to clean the state of this menace.<\/span><\/p>\n

These developments underscore Assam\u2019s commitment to eradicating the drug trade and safeguarding its youth from the perils of narcotics. Through coordinated efforts, the state is setting a precedent in proactive law enforcement and community safety.<\/span><\/p>\n
