The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon while Hussain, along with his personal security officers (PSOs), was traveling to a meeting at Gunomari village under Rupohi police station. Although Hussain was unharmed, his two PSOs suffered minor injuries. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the names of the ten suspects, including Harun from Jamtola and Jahangir from Koachgaon, and pledged lawful police action against them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Addressing the Assam Assembly, Chief Minister Sarma assured that the state government would enhance security measures for Hussain during his visits to Samaguri and Rupihihat, which have a history of unrest. Despite these assurances, the Assembly witnessed heated scenes as Congress MLAs, led by Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, demanded an adjournment motion to deliberate on the attack. The motion was denied by Speaker Biswajit Daimary, leading to an adjournment of the House twice within the first thirty minutes of the session.<\/span><\/p>\n
