Dibrugarh: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed seed funding of Rs 10,000 each to 14,205 women entrepreneurs in Dibrugarh under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) on Friday. The distribution ceremony took place at Khanikar Playground, attracting participants from both rural and urban areas of the district. Among the beneficiaries, 7,777 women came from rural regions while 6,248 were from urban localities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The MMUA scheme is one of Assam\u2019s most ambitious initiatives aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs. The state government has committed over Rs 3,000 crore in seed capital to support more than 3 million women entrepreneurs statewide. The program encompasses various sectors such as agriculture, handloom, handicrafts, and livestock rearing, offering women financial resources to start and expand their businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis seed fund is not just financial assistance; it is an investment in the capabilities and dreams of our women entrepreneurs. We believe that when women are economically empowered, families and communities thrive,\u201d stated Himanta during the ceremony. The scheme follows a performance-based model, allowing beneficiaries who effectively utilize the initial Rs 10,000 seed fund to qualify for further financial support in subsequent phases. This structured approach aims to ensure sustainable business growth while upholding accountability in fund usage.<\/span><\/p>\n
