S<\/span>ecurity forces on Tuesday, February 24 recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and protective gear during a coordinated search operation in Imphal East district of Manipur<\/a>. The seizure took place in the Nungai Hill Range area under the limits of Sagolmang Police Station, officials said.<\/span><\/h5>\n

According to official sources, the recovered weapons included one country-made rifle and one country-made 9 mm pistol with a magazine. Security personnel also found an HE-36 hand grenade and five rounds of .303 ammunition at the site.<\/span><\/p>\n

For protective equipment, forces seized a bulletproof jacket fitted with two metal plates, a magazine pouch, two bulletproof helmets and three slings. The mix of weapons and body armour led officials to say the cache was likely intended for use in armed operations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The recovery was the result of coordinated action by security personnel in the area, officials added. Investigations and further searches in the vicinity are continuing, according to the sources.<\/span><\/p>\n
