The German Development Minister Dr. Gerd Muller, his wife Mrs Gerti Muller-Hoorens and a big team comprising Consul General Kolkota Dr. Michael Feiner and Deputy head of Mission Mr Egon Kochanke visited the village Monoha of district Morigaon of Assam on 27th February\u00a0 to appreciate the efforts of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) for introducing the climate-resilient rice varieties, scale-appropriate mechanization,<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

and post-harvest options under APART, a World Bank-funded project, in collaboration with Dept. Of Agriculture, Govt.of Assam and Assam Agricultural University.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

He told that these efforts made under the project for smallholder poor farmers in chronic flood-prone areas would definitely bring tremendous gains in terms of productivity and profitability besides proving livelihood options for young farmers especially women.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that IRRI is strengthening these works on climate-resilient technologies and custom hiring centres for introducing mechanized farming for resource-poor farmers.<\/span><\/p>\n
