Mohilary made the announcement after a review meeting in Kajalgaon in Chirang district, stressing that the administration\u2019s priority is to find housing and relief measures rather than resorting to forcible removals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mohilary reiterated the administration\u2019s stance: \u201cThere will be no eviction in the BTC region. Senior officials from these departments attended and presented updates on the implementation of various government schemes and local development projects, according to participants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">On the proposed grant of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to six communities in Assam, Mohilary said he had no objection in principle, while underlining the need to protect existing entitlements. \u201cIt is a positive step, but the interests of the existing Scheduled Tribe communities must be protected while extending the status to new communities so that everyone benefits,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In a lighter moment, Mohilary made a tongue-in-cheek prediction about the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying Argentina would reach the semi-finals but France would ultimately lift the trophy.
