However the police and district administration is trying their level best to control the situation\u00a0 and in enforcing lockdown in urban areas of the district particularly even after 16 day of the lockdown. <\/span>

Meanwhile distribution of food and other essentials to the people struck inside house is continuing throughout the district, student\u2019s organizations, NGOs, government employees, police, CRPF, religious institutions, village and ward committees are continuing distribution of aid at their personal level. <\/span>Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council\u2019s Executive Member Amarsing Tisso distributed essential food items among hundreds of needy family in remote areas spread across Singhason hill track and Dhansiri locality. <\/span><\/p>\n

Maximum families were given rice, pulses, salt and mustard oil. Tisso later told media that he would continue distribution of essential items as long as the calamity continues. <\/span>Amid excellent attainment of government and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council in tackling the pandemic situation, worrying information have reached from an isolated area within Dillai police station of Karbi Anglong district, people of Upper Dikrong village have alleged that they have not received any relief material to support their lives till now.<\/span><\/p>\n

Upper Dikrong is an area where almost all families depend on selling locally available parsley and herbs and working as manual labor for their livelihood. Due to the lockdown they cannot sell vegetables or risk for wage earning. Reportedly people of the whole area are under distress due to scarcity of food. <\/span>Village headman Kamal Engti told our media person, \u201cFew families who possessed BPL or ration card received some food items from the government. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, maximum families\u2019 doesn\u2019t have ration cards so they have been denied food items.\u201d informed that 21 out of 37 household of Kathar Engti village, 22 out of 26 houses from Kania Terang village, 15 out of 26 houses of Monsing Teron village, 6 out of 15 houses of Hemari Engti village and 25 out of 45 families from Niling Sangma village do not have ration cards.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe have been feeding our family by selling wood and vegetable. We earn so little that we cannot think of saving any money. We are now really in deep trouble to fight our hunger.\u201d He mentioned that they have applied for the ration cards but have not received till now.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
