\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Two policemen, including an Officer in Charge of a police station, have died after a police team was washed away in the flood waters of Assam’s Nagaon district on Monday, police said.<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"Two\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>A team of four policemen, led by Kampur\u00a0police station OC Sammujal Kakoti, had proceeded to rescue marooned people from a remote area after information was received late last night that flood water had entered the village Pachonijar Madhupur, Special Director General of Police G P Singh said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"OC\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The\u00a0 policemen fell into a waterbody with Kakoti jumping to rescue them and was washed away. Two policemen were rescued while SDRF teams launched an operation and recovered the body of constable Rajiv Bordoloi early on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Search continued for a few more hours before Kakoti’s body was recovered, Singh said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 ”We salute the courage and bravery of Sub Inspector Samujjal Kakoti and Constable Rajib Bordoloi. You sacrificed\u00a0your lives without batting an eyelid. Your selfless\u00a0act would be an inspiration to future generations of Assam police personnel”, Singh said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Special DGP further said, ”we stand with our men and families in this time of grief and salute the courage shown by the brave policemen”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Nagaon district has been severely affected by the ongoing devastating\u00a0floods in the state with a population 3,64,459 people impacted by the river Kopili which was flowing above the highest flood level at Kampur.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 A total population of 42,28,157 have been affected in the current wave of floods which has affected 34 districts and claimed 71 lives.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
