\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)’s 14 teams from Assam and eight from other battalions have so far rescued 14,200 marooned people in 12 flood-affected districts of Assam, an official said on Wednesday.<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"NDRF\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>Almost the entire state has been submerged due to incessant rains since the last week, following which NDRF’s 1st\u00a0 Battalion Disaster Response Force swung into rescue operations in the affected districts with its 14 teams deploying more than 70 boats and 400 men in the heavily flooded districts, NDRF’s 01 Bn’s Assistant Commandant Santosh Kumar Singh said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 An additional eight teams from other battalions with 207 personnel were airlifted to Silchar on Wednesday and Tuesday, he said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"assam-floods\" \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The rescue operations are being conducted by the NDRF in Kamrup, Kamrup Rural, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Bajali, Hojai, Nalbari, Darang, Tamulpur Nagaon, Udalguri and Cachar, Singh said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Apart from the rescue work being carried out by the through day and night for the last few days, the force is also engaged in assisting the district administrations in distributing relief materials to the affected people.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Commandant H P S Kandari and all Officers of the 1st NDRF are closely monitoring and\u00a0actively participating in the rescue operation in every district.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0This rescue team has so far evacuated 14200 people trapped in the floods to safe places and the process will continue till the situation improves, he added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday had said that four units of the NDRF from Bhubaneswar with a total of 105 personnel was sent to Silchar to carry out rescue operations in Barak Valley and had thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for this ”prompt action and help”.<\/span><\/p>\n
