With an eye on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the ruling BJP party continues its widespread campaigning while, in parallel, the opposition parties also maintain their efforts. Today, during a press conference in Diphu, John Ingti Kathar, the president of the All Party Hills Leaders Conference (AHLC) and the party’s candidate for this Lok Sabha election, declared the party’s significant objectives.
The leader, through today’s press briefing, highlighted that ensuring the security of the indigenous tribal people, the native Assamese, and the adivasis living in the hill districts is the primary goal of the party.
The BJP-RSS-Bong Sena alliance fielded a candidate for the Gan Suraksha Party with the intention of countering the indigenous power in the region, according to a statement by Kathar.
On the other hand, it is alleged that despite the rule requiring government officials who have been working in the district for more than three years to be transferred before elections, many such officials are still actively working in the district. In this context, it is pointed out that transferring the Superintendent of Police from the West Karbi Anglong district to the Dima Hasao district is illegal and constitutes a violation of the directives of the Election Commission of India.
