In a significant breakthrough, the Katigorah police in Assam’s Cachar district have successfully seized Yaba tablets worth almost ₹3 crore. The operation, which took place on Saturday night, saw the police intercepting a substantial quantity of the illegal drug from an auto-rickshaw on National Highway 6 in the Nunagar area of Katigorah. The authorities have also apprehended two individuals suspected to be involved in the trafficking of these illicit substances.
The vigilant Katigorah police carried out a meticulously planned operation, targeting an auto-rickshaw suspected of transporting contraband. The vehicle was stopped and searched on National Highway 6, a key route often exploited for illegal activities. During the search, the officers discovered a staggering 9,800 Yaba tablets meticulously packed in 49 packets. This substantial haul signifies a major victory in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
The police have arrested two individuals in connection with this seizure. The suspects have been identified as Sahim Uddin Khan, a resident of Bhairabpur Second Block in Kalain, and Didarul Islam from Dumka. Both individuals are believed to be key players in the transportation and distribution of these illegal drugs. The apprehension of these suspects is expected to provide crucial leads that may help dismantle larger networks operating in and around the region.
According to law enforcement officials, the seized Yaba tablets have an estimated market value of ₹3 crore in the international market.
