In a significant operation against illegal narcotics, police at the Karbi Anglong district, near the Assam-Nagaland border, conducted a series of raids that culminated in a major drug seizure late Tuesday night. The targeted operation took place around 11 PM near Dilai, precisely six miles into the rural expanse of Bokajan.

According to police sources, this success was achieved during a routine check at a designated roadside checkpoint. An AS 02 DC 6129 registered truck was flagged for inspection, and authorities discovered an astonishing 10 kilograms and 712 grams of morphine value of ₹11 Crore hidden in the driver’s cabin.
The operation was coordinated by Sub-Inspector Mintu Saikia, who immediately informed senior police officials about the troubling discovery. Following this crucial alert, police officials from Bokajan, along with personnel from the CRPF, and local representatives from Dilai, converged on the scene.
In the presence of top-ranking police officials and neutral witnesses, the morphine was seized, and investigations are currently underway. The findings have raised significant concerns regarding the ongoing drug trafficking operations in the region, particularly in light of the individuals currently detained. The two primary suspects involved in this narcotics case have been identified as Ali Ahmed, the son of a notable figure from Lanka in Hojai district, and Mohammad Azad, the son of another influential individual from Galachang Sree bhumi.
The law enforcement agencies are rigorously interrogating the suspects to uncover deeper connections and networks involved in the drug supply chain. This notable event underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating the illicit drug trade, especially in border areas where trafficking routes often go unchecked.
