Diphu : In continuation to projects aimed at helping less privileged populace of far flung areas in Karbi Anglong District, troops of the renowned Red Horns Division, deployed in East Karbi Anglong constructed and handed over Two Classrooms with electrification and Two Toilet Blocks with allied water supply to St. John’s English School, Phunglokpet under Operation Sadbhavana Project 2019 – 2020.
The inauguration of this project was carried out on 16 Mar 2020 by Mr Mukul Saikia, DC Karbi Anglong and Company Commander Bakulia COB at village Phonglokphet with large attendance of students, parents and the locals. This endeavour is a humane gesture to facilitate better schooling and sanitary facilities for school children, which will assist them in imbibing healthy community and personal habits besides encouraging quality teaching at the school.
It is also pertinent to mention here that this village was heavily infested with extortion activities by Anti National Elements, which has greatly reduced since the induction of Armed Forces and proactive stance taken by troops deployed in the area.
The event received an overwhelming response from the local administration and villagers as many similar projects have been undertaken by Red Horns Division in the adjoining areas. Also, the troops deployed here take pride in being part of such developmental projects and have assured the locals to take up more such projects in the future to improve their quality of life.
