The Captain Amarinder Singh-led Punjab government has decided to extend the lockdown in the state till April 30. This decision comes at a time when Punjab is seeing a rapid rise in the number of Covid-19 cases that has already crossed the 100-mark in the state.

Earlier in the day, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh said the government was “seriously” thinking of extending the lockdown but a dinal decision would however be taken by the state cabinet. He also said a high-powered committee is working on devising an exit strategy because the lockdown cannot be indefinite.
The Punjab CM said Rs 15,000 crore is not enough for the whole nation to battle the coronavirus pandemic and that he will raise the issue of fiscal aid for states during the virtual meeting of the chief ministers with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.
