In a tragic turn of events, a distressing road accident occurred today in the Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh, claiming the lives of 18 people and leaving several others injured.
Upon receiving news of the accident, local residents immediately alerted the police and initiated a rescue operation. Local police were swift to respond, arriving at the accident site promptly to assist the locals. The injured victims were rushed to the hospital, while the lifeless bodies of the deceased were carefully retrieved.

Preliminary information suggests that this accident occurred near the Kukdur police station in the district. During the accident, the ill-fated pickup van was carrying more than 22 people, who were on their way to pluck Tendu leaves, a key ingredient in the preparation of bidis.
The vehicle lost control while returning from the leaf picking expedition and fell nearly 20 feet from the road, leading to this devastating accident. According to local accounts, the victims were residents of Bahapani village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kukdur police station.
