On Saturday evening around 4 PM, Sanjay Kumar Yadav, the Additional Public Prosecutor of the Diphu District and Sessions Court, reported that the court sentenced an accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of three lakh rupees for the crime of raping his own daughter. In case of non-payment of the fine, an additional three years of simple imprisonment was also imposed. According to the Public Prosecutor, the Additional District and Sessions Judge of the Diphu Court, Geetali Rabha, delivered an important judgment regarding a Special (POCSO) case, handing down this sentence to the accused, Bulu Khari Kapasak, who committed the crime against his daughter.

It’s worth noting that on the night of October 2023, around 8 PM, while returning home after a tutoring class, the victim’s father forcibly took the victim to the agricultural field and raped her. About a month later, while the victim was sleeping at night, the accused father again forcibly raped her. Since then, the father has raped the victim numerous times. For four to five months, he has been repeatedly raping her and has threatened to kill the victim’s mother and force the victim into marriage, intending to keep her as his wife.
In relation to the mentioned case, Special Case No. 15/2024 under POCSO and Case No. 34/2023 from the Hawraghat Police Station, the final hearing resulted in the acceptance of witness testimonies. Consequently, the accused, Bullo (also known as Bolo Khari Kapshak), was found guilty under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, based on adequate evidence provided by the witnesses, and the verdict was delivered. The Additional Public Prosecutor particularly noted the significant role played by District Police Superintendent Sanjeev Saikia in this matter.
