Diphu : COVID- 19 is gradually spreading in Karbi Anglong district, administration has declared a portion of market contagious to River Yamuna flowing by the side of Howraghat town around 73 kilometres from Diphu as containment zone today after two persons of Debostan locality of Hojai district tested COVID 19 positive.
As informed by Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Debostan is situated within the vicinity of Howraghat town and separated by River Yamuna; both the area i.e. Howraghat and Debostan is coupled by a bridge whose span is roughly 50 miters. As a precautionary measure the densely colonized market area has been declared containment zone.

On the other hand Hotel Singhason and its periphery, of Diphu town which is designated quarantine facility where one of the inmate was tested positive day before yesterday has been avowed as containment zone. The Deputy Commissioner has also informed that till now out of the 151 quarantined persons whose swab was sent to Jorhat Medical College laboratory for COVID 19 test, 59 persons have tested negative whose test report has been sent except one who is now undergoing treatment at a dedicated hospital of Guwahati.
Addressing a press conference the Deputy Commissioner informed that henceforth wearing of face mask in all public place has been made obligatory and binding by the authority and any violation of the order will lead to fine and other stringent punishment.
He mentioned that till now 19 hotels of first-rate has been requisitioned along with large number of government guest houses, inspection bungalows, hostels and other government conveniences for accommodating quarantine persons.
He stated that there is a possibility of 11 thousand home returnees due to arrive in this district from different states and currently the administration is prepared to accommodate more or less one thousand people. He stated that preparation for making quarantine centers at village, sub-division and ward level are on with the involvement of public leaders starting from local MLA.
He informed that as per the government order community testing in rural areas for detecting disease like malaria, COVID 19 and other communicable ailment is continuing in the district which has covered more than four lakhs people till now with zero number of COVID 19 symptom.
