Guwahati: Shocking news coming in from Hindustan Paper Corporation Mill, Panchgram in Hailakandi district . At around 3:45 PM yesterday, the private security guards deployed at the Paper Mill fired at a group of miscreants leaving one dead.
When the three private security guards of HPC spotted them while the gang was about to flee away, the armed thieves rushed towards the security personnel and attacked them, the sources said.
One of the security guards opened fire in self defence and a bullet hit one of the thieves while the rest of the gang fled away from the spot, they said.The injured was rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
District Superintendent of Police Pabindra Kumar Nath who along with other police officials rushed to the spot said the body is yet to be identified and investigation is on. Police has seized the 12 bore double barrel gun of the security guard.
Cases of theft in the defunct paper mill of HPC has been on the rise with the recent being about a month ago, the sources added.
