On Friday, police arrested six people, including three women from Arunachal Pradesh, for allegedly transporting drugs worth over Rs 3 crore from different parts of Assam. During an operation in Jaypur, Dibrugarh district, the police apprehended four people who had 364.43 grams of heroin in 29 soap cases intended to be transported to Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Naba Kumar Borah told Reporter that the driver and the three women from the neighbouring state were also caught. The gang was travelling from Duliajan rail station to Tirap in a car, which has been seized by the police. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway. The seized drugs are estimated to be around Rs 3 crore in value, Borah said.
In another operation Police in Hojai district arrested two people from the Lanka police station area. Upon searching them, 15 plastic vials with 15 grams of heroin were found. It is estimated that the drugs obtained are worth approximately Rs 12 lakh.
