ASSAM TIMES POST, Nalbari: The overall flood situation in Nalbari district again turns critical as more than 42 villages have been inundated since last evening. Army have been deployed in the district this morning to rescue the marooned people at Chataibari and Namati. Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury who is monitoring the Army rescue operation told this correspondent that around 200 people including women, old aged and children are affected at Chataibari and Namati areas of the district. He added that the Army rescue operation is going on till the filling of this report. However the SDRF personnel have also been engaged to rescue the flood hit people of Ghograpar areas since last evening.
The DC said that the flood situation in Nalbari district turned very critical since last night as the swollen water of the river Pagladia causes devastation at Banekuchi and Ghograpar revenue circle. The Deputy Commissioner finding no alternative and called the Army of Red Horn division from Rangia early this morning to carry out rescue operation. The Army used two boats in this operation. The flood water flowing through the Chengnoi suddenly created devastation in the villages like Namati, Chataibari, Dhamdhama, Kasimpur, Sariahtali among others and the villagers becamed marooned. According to the official sources a total of 160 villages under seven revenue circles had badly affected in the first wave of flood in the district. Over two lakh population were affected. However in the current wave of flood around 40,000 people again affected so far.
