Guwahati : Timely and prompt action by Assam Police prevented a woman from commiting suicide by hanging herself as posted by her in the social media.
At about 7:15 pm Tuesday information was received at Gauripur police Out Post that a woman had posted a video of herself attempting to commit suicide by hanging, said a press release by Assam Police Chief Public Relations Officer today.
This information was also received by Superintendent of Police, Kamrup, from AP Social Media Center. On receipt of the information, In Charge (IC) of Gauripur rushed to the place of occurrence along with staff and prevented the woman from taking the extreme step.
She was counselled and after observing legal procedures was handed over to her family, the release said.
