On Sunday, the 2024 Sahitya Akademi Translation Award was announced. This award has been presented in 21 languages across the country. In the Assamese language, the award has been given to writer and translator Anjan Sharma for his translation of Konkalal Barua’s original English book “Early History of Kamrupa.” In the Bengali language, the Sahitya Akademi Translation Award has been awarded to Basudev Das.

The award has been given to Das for the Bengali translation of Homen Borgohain’s popular novel “Saudor Puteke Nao Meli Jai,” titled “Sodagorer Putro Nao Beye Jai.” Similarly, the literary award for translation has been awarded to author Uttara Bichumuthiyar for her work in translating Anuradha Sharma Pujari’s novel “Kanchan” into a major language.
