In March 14, Holi will be celebrated across the entire country. On the day of Holi, the nation will be filled with vibrant colors from the powders. The sacred day of Holi is marked by people applying colors on each other as part of the festivities.

However, it is often seen that individuals forcefully throw colors on others. This issue particularly affects women. Even passersby on the streets can be targeted with colors thrown at them without consent. If you enjoy such actions, it’s time to be cautious. Engaging in this behavior can lead to serious problems for you. Forcibly applying colors on others can result in imprisonment.
Be aware of the rules established regarding this matter in advance. If someone suffers harm due to being forcibly colored during Holi, a fine of ₹5000 may be imposed under Section 125 of the BNS, or there could be a one-year prison sentence. If a woman is forcibly colored, a case for insulting her dignity can be filed under Section 79 of the BNS, which can lead to up to three years of imprisonment, along with fines.
If someone forcibly applies color or harasses another person by blocking their way on Holi, a case can be filed under Section 345 of the CrPC, which may result in one month of imprisonment or a fine of ₹5000, or both. If there is a dispute and violence involved in the act of forcibly applying color on someone, a case can be filed under Section 150 of the BNS, where the punishment can extend up to ten years. Therefore, keep these points in mind before forcibly applying color on anyone during Holi.
