In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Cachar Police in Assam has successfully seized a staggering 60,000 Yaba tablets as part of a comprehensive crackdown on illegal narcotics. The seizure, which took place in the Mehrapur area of Silchar, underscores the ongoing battle against drug-related crimes in the region.

According to reports, the operation was initiated based on confidential intelligence that led police to conduct a thorough search of a Swift Desire vehicle. During the operation, law enforcement officials discovered not only the Yaba tablets but also 386 grams of heroin, further amplifying the scale of this successful raid. The heroin was cleverly concealed within 38 soap boxes, emphasizing the lengths to which traffickers will go to hide their illicit goods.
The Cachar Police’s Superintendent, Numal Mahatta, revealed that the total estimated value of the seized drugs in the black market is approximately ₹20 crore. This staggering figure highlights the seriousness of the drug trade in the region and the potential harm it poses to the community.
In addition to the impressive seizure, authorities have arrested a key supplier linked to the drug operation. Identified as Raja Miya Borbhuyan from Mainul Haque Chowdhury Lane in Mehrapur, Borbhuyan is suspected of being a significant player in the local narcotics distribution network. His arrest is expected to provide further insights into the workings of drug trafficking in the area.
