Diphu: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council is fully prepared to meet any food crisis if the declared nationwide lockdown continues beyond 3rd May. This was informed by Amarsing Tisso, Executive Member of Agriculture and other departments; Tisso is presently overseeing distribution of essential food items in 17 numbers of ‘Member of Autonomous Council’ constituency areas spread across the autonomous district alongside West Karbi Anglong district.
“ We have stocked enough quantity of rice , pulses, potato, salt and other essential food items and have already distributed enough food grains among the BPL card holders and between the people who are not listed, food distribution will continue abiding government guidelines and maintaining all safety precautions; I can assure you there is no food predicament in KAAC administered area.


Till now due to the closely controlled lifestyle of our people particularly the rural dwellers this pandemic has failed to penetrate in any locality of the two hill districts administered by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, however utmost precaution will be required to be maintained if the lockdown is lifted, we are flanked by vast populated locality of Nagaon and Hojai district in two region beside Dimapur city of Nagaland and Meghalay in the West. Once passage of normal traffic begins our place will turn out to be susceptible” Tisso maintained.
The vast region of 10434 square kilometer hilly area consisting of West Karbi Anglong and Karbi Anglong autonomous district has been marked as green zone; presently no corona virus positive case has been detected in any of the district. Till date 17 persons have been kept in isolation and around 1084 persons have been quarantined (including home quarantine in both the district). District administration and Health department has made adequate arrangement to meet any eventuality, dedicated hospitals have been kept in readiness and maximum vigil is maintained.
