Diphu: The ambulance services provided by the Karbi Anglong wing of the 108-Mrityunjoy Ambulance are running steadfastly against the COVID19 amid the nationwide lock down. This was informed through a press statement by the organization recently.
The release has mentioned that 108-‘Mrityunjoy’ Ambulance Service has been working persistently during these crisis period of the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected whole globe. The 108 Ambulance Service has a current fleet of 696 surface ambulances in Assam out of which 85 has been dedicated to cater to COVID-19 patients.
According to the 108 authority 77 % of the suspects handled are males and 23% are females. The highest number of suspects transported in a single day was on 1st April, 2020 totaling to 210 cases on a single day. 99% of the cases transported have been shifted to designated Govt. hospitals/Quarantine facilities. 1750 (76%) cases have been shifted to Medical Colleges/District Hospitals, 184 (8%) to PHCs’ and 380 (16%) to CHCs’.
The staff running the ambulances has been provided with sodium hypochlorite solution to sanitize the ambulance before and after the transportation of a suspected COVID-19 patient. In the period from March 22 to April 30, 66 COVID-19 related patients, 349 pregnancy related, 172 abdominal pain, 60 trauma, 37 breathing problem, 33 high fever and 39 cardiac related patients were transported within and from Karbi Anglong district.
