The troops of renowned Red Horns Division, as a part of civic action programme organized a Painting And Essay Writing Competition at Samelangso High School, Samelangso in East Karbi Anglong on the occasion of World Habitat Day on 9 oct 2019 with an aim to enhance Army’s relations with local population.
The theme of Essay Writing Competition and Painting Competition was based on World Habitat Day. Awareness on the importance of communal living in towns and cities were highlighted.
The event witnessed the presence of 50+ individuals comprising students, teachers and school staff.
All participants of the competition were appreciated and congratulated for their interest and creativity, of which the three best essays and three best paintings were awarded prizes.
The competition intended to raise awareness amongst students on the problems of urbanization and its impact on our community and society. It also helped bring forth the vision of “basic right for all to adequate shelter.” Along with this the advantages of communal living was highlighted. Ideas from different students regarding waste management in cities and towns were also discussed.
The teachers and school staff appreciated the efforts of the Army and acknowledged that conduct of such events for young students immensely helps in all round development of students.
