A person was arrested and a gun recovered from his possession for allegedly firing at his neighbour for not paying up a debt in Assam’s Hailakandi district on Friday, police said.
A person, identified as Dalim Uddin Laskar, had opened fire at his neighbour Mojibur Rahman Barbhuiya who allegedly owed some money to the former in Balicherra village of the district, Hailakandi Superintendent of Police Gaurav Upadhyay said.
Laskar went to his neighbour’s house and demanded his money and a heated argument ensued with the former opening fire.
Barbhuiya was injured in his arms and was taken to Bilaipur primary health centre.
Laskar had fled from the spot but the police launched a hunt and arrested him within an hour, the SP said.
