A person has been sentenced to ten years of Rigorous Imprisonment for ten years for unnatural sexual offences against a minor boy in Assam’s Hailakandi district.
The accused Piyar Uddin Laskar has been sentenced by the Special Judge, Hailakandi Sanjoy Hazarika under Section 377 related to unnatural offences (Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine).
The Judge also sentenced the accused, who was 21 years old at the time of the incident, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life along with fine of Rs 20,000 for the offences Under Section of the POCSO Act, 2012 (Whoever commits penetrative sexual assault shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than ten years).
In default of payment of fine, the convict shall undergo further rigorous imprisonment for six months.
A complaint was lodged in Lala police station on June 5, 2018 against Laskar by a man alleging that his 11-year old son was forcibly taken by him to the toilet of Lala Rural College while he was playing in the college field with two of his friends and committed ccarnal inetrcourse with the child.
The police registered a case, sent the child for medical investigation and arrested the accused who was subsequently sent to judicial custody.
The police submitted a detailed chargesheet last year and the sentence was announced last week.
