ASSAM TIMES POST, Guwahati : At about 12.30 hours today in the Area of Responsibilty of 67 Battalion BSF, 3 civilians of Indian village Dubripar went for cutting the grass by a ‘Chappu boat’ from an almost submerged Char near village Baladoba part 2 in the midst of ferociously flowing River Gangadhar, which is having a width of more than 3 kilometres at present coupled with excessively swift current. There ‘Chappu Boat’ got overturned almost in the centre of the river Gangadhar and in no time it got swept away into Bangladesh. These civilians, endeavouring to swim across the river, soon started tiring out and came on the verge of drowning in the River Gangadhar due to the highly rapid current and being away from the shore buy almost one and half kilometre on either side.The BSF Sentry at the Observation Point of BSF post Tistapara of 67 Battalion BSF noticed them drowning and the BSF speedboat with team swung into action in no time and rescued them from the centre of River Gangadhar. above civilians were identified as
Sadak Ali (65), Sadi Rahman Ali (30), Saburiddin (25)all of them from Village Dubripar near Tistapara ps Golokganj of district Dhubri.The speedy and timely action of BSF saved the precious life of of these civilians almost on the verge of drowning into the River Gangadhar.
