Ten days ago, a prominent activist from Kajalgaon named Rakibur Ali found himself at the center of legal controversy when an arrest warrant was issued for him by the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Chirang district. On Wednesday, Rakibur Ali surrendered himself in court, following his arrest by the police based on the warrant issued on August 7.
The news of his arrest created widespread unrest among the general public in the district, leading Rakibur Ali to launch a campaign with the support of his followers. However, the campaign failed to gain significant support from the public. After spending ten days in custody, Rakibur Ali made the decision to surrender himself in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, according to his defense lawyer Nandita Basumatary.
It is important to note that a constable was accused of negligence of duty in relation to the police’s failure to execute the arrest warrant issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Kajalgaon.
