John Ingti Kathar, the leader of APHLC, submitted his first set of nomination papers in Diphu today. Voting for the 6th Diphu Lok Sabha constituency is scheduled to take place on April 26th, as part of the general elections happening across various constituencies in the country. Today, along with his party supporters, the former IAS officer and leader of APHLC, John Ingti Kathar, presented his nomination papers to the District Commissioner and Returning Officer, Madhumita Bhagawati.
John Ingti Kathar of APHLC Submits Nomination for Diphu Lok Sabha Seat Amidst Strong Indigenous Support
After submitting the nomination papers and speaking to the media, he claimed that this time he would secure victory with 500,000 votes. He asserted that all indigenous people—including Karbi, Dimasa, Tiwa, Kuki, Garo, Man Tai, Assamese, Adivasis, Bodos, and others—would cast their votes for him. He mentioned that his party has approached the public with a commitment to oppose the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act), resist the implementation of UCC (Uniform Civil Code), protect the powers granted under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, and safeguard the rights of all indigenous people living in the hills. He also claimed that the public has given their party unwavering support.
On April 2nd, BJP candidate Amar Singh Tisso is set to submit his nomination papers for the Diphu Lok Sabha constituency, accompanied by 40,000 supporters in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The following day, on the 3rd, the Congress candidate Jayaram Engleng and the ASD party’s candidate Jotson Bey will file their nominations. Bernard Changma is also expected to submit his nomination for the Gan Suraksha Party, although he has not yet collected his nomination papers as of now.
