Celebrations and Unity as Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem Shine at 2024 Olympics
India’s Neeraj Chopra, securing a silver medal, and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, winning gold, celebrated their achievements following the men’s javelin throw final at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Nadeem broke the Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m, surpassing defending champion Chopra’s season-best throw of 89.45m on Thursday night.

Back home, Saroj Devi, Chopra’s mother, expressed her pride in her son’s performance and extended her happiness to Nadeem’s success, praising him as if he were her own child. This silver medal marks Chopra’s second individual Olympic medal, making him the first Indian track-and-field athlete to achieve back-to-back Olympic wins.
Despite their on-field rivalry, Chopra and Nadeem share a bond of friendship. Saroj Devi highlighted this sentiment, stating, “all are athletes, all work hard,” emphasizing there is no difference between the two athletes in her eyes.
Chopra’s return home is anticipated with great joy, where his family plans to welcome him with his favorite dish, “Churma.” His aunt, Kamlesh, commended his performance amidst a highly competitive field, expressing that winning a medal itself is a significant accomplishment.
Chopra holds an illustrious track record, including gold medals from the Olympics, World Championships, Diamond League, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games. His recent silver completes his collection, with his family foreseeing Nadeem’s exceptional throw would clinch the gold.
In a touching conclusion, Kamlesh reiterated the family’s elation for both athletes, reinforcing the unity and shared pride between India and Pakistan, regardless of the medal’s color.
