In a significant breakthrough in the battle against drug trafficking, Dillai police made headlines on Wednesday night with the seizure of a massive haul of yaba tablets during a routine checkpoint at Dillai Tiniali. The operation, which unfolded around 7:50 PM, marked a substantial victory for local law enforcement in their ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs.

The police, executing a routine inspection, stopped a vehicle bearing the registration number AS 01 AR 9682. Their meticulous search led to the discovery of a hidden compartment within the car, concealing 25 bundles of suspected yaba tablets. The total weight of these illicit drugs was found to be 5 kilograms and 302 grams, culminating in a staggering count of 50,000 tablets. The estimated market value of the seized yaba tablets is approximately 10 crore rupees, underscoring the scale and audacity of the operation.
The arrest of Mohammed Owaris from Manipur’s Kaching district and his wife, Sahinaj, from Thoubal district, is a crucial development in this case. The duo is believed to be integral to the supply chain of these yaba tablets, which have been wreaking havoc in the region. Both suspects are currently under intense interrogation as the police strive to dismantle the network responsible for this illicit trade.
