In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a man has been arrested for allegedly cooking the leg of his own pet dog in Mohmaiki village under Bokakhat subdivision in Assam. The accused, Prashant Rajkhowa, has been accused of not only killing two of his dogs but also burying their remains near his residence.

The discovery was made by animal rights activist Madhusmita Gogoi, who works with the Bokakhat Police Station. Gogoi stumbled upon the alleged perpetrator while he was in the act of cooking the dog’s leg and seized the meat from him. She subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the police station, triggering a thorough investigation.
This isn’t the first time Rajkhowa has faced allegations of animal cruelty. According to sources, he has a history of harming animals, including a previous incident where he killed a dog in similar circumstances. This latest case has sparked outrage among animal rights activists and local residents, who are demanding justice for the victims.
The incident has also raised concerns about the accused’s behavior in general. According to a local resident, Rajkhowa was involved in an earlier altercation over a music system, when he allegedly damaged the device after being asked to turn it off. Authorities are currently investigating this matter, and the accused is expected to face legal proceedings under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The case has sent a chilling message to animal lovers and advocacy groups, who are now demanding stricter measures to prevent such acts of cruelty in the future. “This is a wake-up call for all of us to come together and ensure that such heinous crimes are prevented,” said Gogoi, who has been at the forefront of the animal rights movement in the region. “We will not tolerate such brutality and will continue to fight for the rights of animals until justice is served.”
As authorities continue to investigate the matter, the people of Assam are left reeling in horror, struggling to come to terms with the depth of cruelty that has been unleashed in the name of human consumption. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of compassion, empathy, and responsible pet ownership, and the need for stricter laws to protect animals from such abuses.
