The North East Frontier Railway (NFR) on Friday cancelled some trains due to protests against the ‘Agnipath’ scheme of recruitment to armed forces which damaged railway property, including burning of train coaches in areas falling under East Central Railway (Bihar).
Six coaches of train number 15652 Guwahati–Jammu Tawi Lohit Express were set ablaze by agitators at about 06-10 am today at Mohiuddinnagar station of Bihar, NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Sabyasachi De said here.
There were, however, no casualties or injury to any of the 1169 passengers on board the train, he added.

The trains Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Express, Kamakhya-Anand Vihar Express, Alipurduar Jn-Delhi Express and Kamakhya–Bhagat Ki Kothi Express of will remain cancelled on Friday while the Bhagat Ki Kothi–Kamakhya Express of June 21 will remain cancelled
Moreover, due to damage of railway tracks by flood water between Nalbari and Ghograpar station under Rangiya division of NFR, services of several trains have been cancelled and diverted viaKamakhya-Goalpara Town-New Bongaigaon route.
The trains diverted today are Silchar-Trivandrum Express will originate from Guwahati, Kamakhya–Delhi Brahmaputra Mail, Silghat Town-Tambaram Express, Silchar-Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express, Howrah – Dibrugarh Kamrup Express, Anand vihar–Kamakhya Northeast Express and Chandigarh–Dibrugarh Express.
The New Bongaigaon-Guwahati passenger on Friday and its corresponding train from Guwahati on Saturday will remain cancelled, De added.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has arranged for special flights between Guwahati and Silchar to facilitate people stranded due to floods and landslides in the state which has disrupted connectivity with Barak Valley.
The special flight, arranged by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) in association with Fly Big, will start operating from June 18 at a fixed rate of Rs 4,000 , an official release said.
