Guwahati : Opposition Congress MLA Sherman Ali was suspended from Assam Assembly and marshalled out on Wednesday amids noisy scenes in the House following his arguments with Speaker Hitesh Goswami to discuss the new state Land Policy.
During Zero Hour in the Assembly here, Ali wanted to discuss the new land policy claiming it to be unconstitutional.
When Goswami refused to allow the discussion, the Congress legislator went to the well of the House near the Speaker’s podium to continue his demand.
Even as the head of the Assembly asked him to return to his seat, Sherman argued with him leading to a noisy scene with BJP treasury and opposition MLAs trading charges and nothing could be heard in the din.
Speaker Goswami then announced that he has suspended Sherman Ali for the day and when he refused to leave the House, the Marshalls were ordered to take Ali out.
After being lead out Ali laid on the floor of the entrance lobby of the House with placards against the Land Policy.
Earlier on November 29 last, another Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi was also suspended from the House and ordered to be marshalled out when he continued with allegations that illegal mining was going on in the state and refused to listen to Speaker Hitesh Goswami to refrain from creating an unruly situation.
