On Friday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in Bihar at multiple locations linked to the accused and suspects involved in a case related to the confiscation of dangerous weapons and ammunition from members of the CPI(Maoist), according to an official.

The raids were carried out in East Champaran, Sheohar, Saran, Muzaffarpur, and Samastipur districts of the state to establish connections between Ram Babu Ram, also known as “Rajan,” the self-proclaimed zonal commander of the CPI(Maoist), and Ram Babu Paswan, also known as “Dhiraj,” an active member of the banned organization, the official stated. Both individuals were apprehended by the state police on May 4 and are currently in judicial custody.
The case pertains to the discovery of two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and 460 rounds of ammunition, which were found buried in a forest area near Bariakala village in West Champaran district. The state police made the recoveries after receiving a tip-off that led them to the Siudi Bandh area of Mashrakh, where the two accused were camping and plotting a terrorist attack. Following their interrogation, the police were led to the Bariakala village forest area, the official explained. The NIA took over the case on June 23.
“After conducting extensive investigations, the NIA carried out raids on two premises connected to the incarcerated accused and seven premises of other suspects involved in the case,” stated a spokesperson for the federal agency. The spokesperson revealed that during the raids, numerous digital devices, including mobile phones, tablets, HD cards, and memory cards, along with SIM cards, a pocket diary containing mobile numbers, pages containing Naxal content, and other incriminating documents were seized. “The NIA is currently examining the various gadgets and documents seized during today’s raids and continues to investigate the case,” the official mentioned.
