On Monday, police reported that five labourers were killed and five others were injured after being run over by a truck on a highway in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district. According to the News agency, the accident occurred at around 5.30 am when the labourers were sleeping in makeshift huts along a service road being constructed in Wadner Bholji village. Three people died on the spot and two others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The truck driver is absconding and the police are investigating the incident. Additionally, the agency reported on Sunday that twelve students were injured in a separate incident after a private school bus overturned near Mhow town in Madhya Pradesh. Four of the students were critically hurt and the eight buses were travelling from Indore to Maheshwar.
The bus overturned at a sharp curve at Jaam Ghat, resulting in injuries to twelve students of classes 10 and 12. Four students were referred to a private hospital in Indore for treatment and the case was transferred to the Mandleshwar police.
