In a major breakthrough, police apprehended three suspected drug suppliers with approximately ₹2 crore worth of heroin in Lahorijan on Thursday evening. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials executed a meticulously planned raid, leading to the seizure of 230.77 grams of suspected heroin concealed within 20 soapboxes. The operation, which took place around 6 PM, underscores the ongoing challenges in curbing drug trafficking in the region.

According to reliable sources, the police received confidential information about a vehicle transporting drugs from Kohima. The vehicle, bearing registration number NL 01 P8634, was intercepted and searched. Upon inspection, officers discovered a bag containing 20 soapboxes filled with the suspected narcotic. This significant haul is indicative of a well-organized drug distribution network.
The individuals arrested in connection with this substantial drug bust have been identified as Biswajit Momin from Bonglong Basti, Rajesh Thapa from Kohima, and Kavelekhol Kinch from Khonsa. Their detention marks a critical step in the ongoing investigation. Authorities have stated that further inquiries are underway to uncover the full extent of the drug trafficking operation and its connections.
The successful operation was led by Rustamraj Brahma, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bokajan. He was ably assisted by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nitul Saikia, Sub-Inspector (SI) Biman Chetia, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pankaj Saikia, and other staff from the Khatarbari Police Station. The coordinated effort highlights the importance of inter-departmental cooperation and swift action in combating drug-related crimes.
