In the early hours of Saturday morning, around 5 AM, a shocking incident in Diphu has left the community in a state of outrage. The lifeless body of a young domestic worker was found hanging from a building, under circumstances that have raised numerous questions.

According to police sources, the body was discovered by a passerby who noticed the young woman hanging from a two-story building. The passerby immediately alerted the authorities. The police arrived promptly at the scene and took charge of the situation, removing the body for examination by an executive magistrate. Following preliminary investigations, the body was sent to the Diphu Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
The deceased has been identified as Anitha, a 20-year-old from the Karagao New Basti area under Khatkhati police station. Anitha had been working as a domestic helper for Angela Rengma, the owner of the under-construction building from which her body was found hanging. Anitha had been employed in this capacity for the past year.
The tragic incident took place near Diphu police station, merely 250 meters away, at Angela Rengma’s under-construction building. The proximity of the incident to the police station has further intensified the community’s concern and demand for a swift and thorough investigation.
Authorities have registered a General Diary Entry (GDE) numbered 21/2024 at Diphu police station, initiating an in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding Anitha’s mysterious death. The police have assured the public that they are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to uncover the truth behind this tragic event.
The police have stated that the results of the post-mortem examination will be crucial in determining the exact cause of death. Until the final report is released, it is premature to draw any conclusions. However, the authorities are hopeful that the investigation will soon shed light on the mystery surrounding Anitha’s untimely demise.
