The Association of Assam Vets in Poultry Industry (AAVPI) is set to host a vibrant event on November 16, Saturday, in Guwahati, to celebrate National Chicken Day. The event, themed “Promoting Chicken and Egg Consumption for Health Building,” aims to raise awareness about the numerous health benefits associated with the consumption of chicken and eggs, vital sources of protein and other essential nutrients.

This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as it commemorates the 89th anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. BV Rao, widely regarded as the “Father of the Indian Poultry Industry.” Dr. Rao’s groundbreaking work has played a crucial role in reshaping the poultry sector in India, turning it into a key area for nutrition and agriculture. In tribute to his legacy, the event will not only promote poultry consumption but also pay homage to the incredible journey of this industry pioneer, who has facilitated numerous advancements in poultry farming.
The event is being organized in collaboration with key stakeholders including the Poultry Development Forum (PDF), Assam Livestock and Poultry Cooperative (ALPCO), and the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara. These partnerships reflect a united effort to make National Chicken Day a significant occasion, spotlighting the importance of poultry as a nutritious food source.
In addition to celebrating the nutritional benefits of chicken and eggs, the organizers are committed to addressing prevalent misconceptions surrounding poultry consumption. Many myths circulate within society, leading to hesitancy in consuming these protein-rich foods. With insights from poultry farmers, veterinarians, and industry experts, the event aims to debunk these myths and educate attendees about the positive impacts of chicken and egg consumption on overall health.
The AAVPI invites key dignitaries from the poultry industry, including farmers, consumers, and media representatives, to join in this celebration. Their participation is crucial in fostering a community dialogue about nutrition and health, emphasizing the essential role of chicken and eggs in meeting protein demands and promoting well-being.
As National Chicken Day approaches, the AAVPI’s multifaceted approach promises to not only enhance awareness of poultry’s health benefits but also honor the legacy of a pioneer who significantly shaped the industry. The event stands as a testament to the collective efforts of the poultry community in Assam to promote healthier eating habits and empower individuals through informed nutritional choices.
