In a coordinated effort to combat illegal mining activities, authorities seized a sand extraction machine in Kathaldi Part-2, Dhubri, on Monday. The operation was spearheaded by the Rokakhata Beat Office under the guidance of Deputy Conservator of Forests, Hiranya Pathak. The confiscated equipment has been secured at the Rokakhat Beat Office, highlighting the forest department’s ongoing commitment to curbing unauthorized operations.

Officials underscored the significant ecological threats posed by illegal sand mining, which disrupts river ecosystems and threatens biodiversity. As part of a broader strategy to address these environmental concerns, the department has ramped up surveillance and organized collaborative efforts.
Kobin Kumar Bora, Range Officer of Salkocha, disclosed that this seizure follows a previous raid on January 8, during which two earth-loaded tractors were confiscated from the same region by a joint team from the Salkocha Range and Rokakhat Beat Office.
The decisive action has garnered support from environmentalists and local residents, who are increasingly worried about the long-term ecological impact of such illegal practices. This initiative is a testament to the growing resolve to preserve local ecosystems and mitigate environmental degradation in the region.
