On August 19, MLA Prashant Phukan’s vehicle was targeted in an attack in Dibrugarh. The assailants, led by Madan Shah and consisting of around 200 people, engaged in a clash that escalated into a heated situation. The incident occurred during a gathering of local officials and authorities at the DMB in Dibrugarh.
MLA Prashant Phukan, Chairman of the Dibrugarh Nagar Board (DNB), Vice Chairman, and Ward Commissioners were attending the meeting, which was reportedly disrupted by a group of street vendors led by Madan Shah. Tensions rose, leading to a confrontation between Shah’s group and the officials present. Reports indicate that the attack also affected the ward Commissioners and other officials in attendance.
The situation became critical when MLA Prashant Phukan’s vehicle was allegedly obstructed. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Madan Shah and other individuals involved in the confrontation. In the meantime, the municipality has threatened to cease its operations if the attackers are not apprehended within the next 24 hours.
